The Taunton Boys : A gang of surf-mad friends who used to camp every WE at Lobb Fields site ( Saunton ).
The photo is dated Aug 1967. L - R : Mike Eastick ( it`s his photo ), Mervyn BEARD ( Later to form Chapter Surfboards ), John Baxter & son, Peter Evans. ( Merv was working for Woolaway Homes with his mate Flipper Stacy at the time.) The car looks like a Triumph Herald estate.
Mike Eastick`s boards : looks like there`s a seam around the rails of the top board, so prob. a Bilbo Popout ?
Below we think is a Powers board - Mike says he had one at around this date. Lobb campsite again.
Alan Kift`s 1965 photo of Clinton `Fitz` Fitzgerald` on his shoulders at the SLSA championships.
Fitz went on to set up Surfboards Inc., then Westcoast Surfboards in the late 60`s.

Harry Standbury mal, 1963 made in Plymouth by Roger Harry and Mark Standbury . Sold through Dingles of Plymouth department store. Rare find by Alex Williams.
Eddie Rehorne`s board shorts : bought he says late 60`s. Hang Ten label, but made under license in Newquay.
Mike Eastick`s badge : which he got for competing in the 1966 SLSA Surfing Championships in Newquay. The newly formed BSA also held their own championships, the war between the two to control surfing went on for a few years before BSA won.......... after which all claims to the GB or European surfing champs by SLSA were dropped. Thanks to Tony Cope for supplying photos.
